The Solidarity Network supports short-term, winnable, direct action fights against abusive bosses and landlords. There’s a lot of ways to be involved in this effort, including postering, meeting one-on-one with people, research and confrontation with people in power. Building a Phone Tree
At Zablocki Library large meeting room (3501 W. Okalahoma) there will be training for building a phone tree. 2:00-2:30 PM will be an introduction to the General Defense Committee, a working group of the Milwaukee IWW that acts for working-class defense and people power. 2:30-3:30 will have a call in from Lee, a member of the Seattle Solidarity Network with 8 years of experience in making functioning phone trees for direct action campaigns against landlords and bosses. Lee will talk about Seattle Solidarity Network’s pattern of organizing, and answer questions we have. 3:30-4:00 will talk more about what the General Defense Committee is currently planning, brainstorm other activities, and discuss next steps for people to plug into.

Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee
At the Center Street Library large meeting room (2727 W. Fon Du Lac Ave) there will be an IWOC event. Part 1 is an introduction and update to prisoner organizing happening in Wisconsin. Part 2 will be mass mailings and writing personal letters of support to incarcerated workers. Food and beverages will be provided. IWOC info/writing events will occur ever two weeks, on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, same time and location.
